French SLN nickel ore approved for export

French mining company Eramet said on Tuesday (April 16th) that its SLN nickel project had received support from the government of New Caledonia to approve the export of its nickel ore.

According to Eramet, the project has been under pressure from rising costs. The decision will allow SLN to export its low-grade nickel ore and reduce its costs.

This positive decision was part of a three-pronged aid package that anticipated cutting SLN's cash costs by US$1.3/lb by 2021.
