Walsin Lihwa, a stainless steel wire rod and cable manufacturer in Taiwan, announced February price increases for stainless steel wire rods yesterday (January 29). This adjustment aligns with Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco)’s significant price surge for hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils.

Specifically, Walsin Lihwa’s 300 series wire rods will rise by NT$7,000/ton. Copper-bearing grades and 316 series will have larger increases of NT$9,000/ton and NT$11,000/ton, respectively. The 200 series and 400 series prices will increase by NT$2,000/ton and NT$1,000/ton, respectively.

The company points to rising global prices for nickel, molybdenum, and copper as the primary drivers. Furthermore, the finalized 15% reciprocal tariff deal with the US creates expectations for a recovery in downstream export orders, providing additional support for stainless steel demand.
