US’ steel scrap exports go up in May m-o-m

According to statistics from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the US exported around 1.24 million tons of steel scrap in May, increasing by 17% from the previous month but falling by 19% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, Turkey remained the top destination with roughly 357,000 tons, growing by 24% month on month while sliding by 8% from a year earlier. Bangladesh still ranked second with a procurement of about 260,000 tons, followed by India with 105,000 tons and Taiwan with 96,000 tons, all of which had month-on-month increases.

In the month, these exports were worth around US$534 million, up by 16% month on month and down by 17% year on year.
