The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) is managing the process, seeking data regarding domestic production capabilities, foreign supply chain vulnerabilities, and price manipulation from overseas subsidies. The public can upload documentation and formal feedback to the federal portal by July 21, 2026.

The Commerce Secretary has a 270-day window to deliver a formal assessment to the President, proposing policy adjustments if the imports jeopardize critical infrastructure.
