Turkey issues framework for green finance

8 Jul 2026 16:21 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
A new National Green Finance Strategy and Action Plan covering 2026-2029 aims to transition Turkey to a sustainable economy. Published in the Official Gazette under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's signature, the plan builds a comprehensive framework to strengthen the country's financial ecosystem against climate risks.

The Treasury and Finance Ministry coordinated the policy with public ministries, regulators, and private sectors. The framework establishes 11 objectives and 45 actions across three main goals: creating a transparent market infrastructure, building institutional capacity, and developing green market mechanisms.

Besides, Turkey will use its position as host and president of the COP31 climate summit to present these priorities globally. The state expects this cross-sector cooperation to secure significant funding for its long-term sustainable development goals.
