Thailand’s Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) has proposed maintaining anti-dumping (AD) tariffs on cold-rolled carbon steel from several countries, including Vietnam, for another five years, due to concerns over potential dumping recurrence.
The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam said it received the information from the Vietnam Trade Office in Thailand, due to Thailand’s DFT announcing the result of the anti-dumping sunset review on the subject products. The DFT found that the cancellation of the anti-dumping duty would result in the recurrence and cause injury to the domestic steel industry.
Therefore, the DFT recommended keeping the existing tariffs of 4.22% to 20.11% on CIF value for another 5 years. Besides, from the sunset review of anti-dumping investigation, DFT also found the possible duty circumvention from imports of ZAM steel (zinc-aluminum-magnesium coated) from China, for the imports rose about one million tons in 2024. DFT said the companies may look for an anti-circumvention investigation into ZAM imports once they have clear evidence.
