Tata Steel announced that it plans to develop its Kalinganagar plant in Odisha into its largest production hub, targeting an annual capacity of 16 million tonnes.

Since operations began a decade ago, Tata Steel has invested over Rs 50,000 crore in the facility, which has grown from an initial capacity of 3 million tonnes per year to 8 million tonnes.

After the next expansion phase, Kalinganagar will surpass the company’s flagship Jamshedpur plant, which currently produces 11 million tonnes annually.

T. V. Narendran, Tata Steel's CEO and Managing Director, said that the Kalinganagar plant has become a symbol of technological excellence, sustainability, and growth alongside the state of Odisha.
