Taiwan's wire industry urges CSC to hold prices in Q3

Taiwan's wire and cable industry wants China Steel Corporation (CSC) to issue flat pricing or a minimal increase under NT$500 for its third-quarter rod and wire products.

During a pre-market meeting today (May 28), Taiwan Steel Wire & Wire Rope Industries Association Chairman Wu Yen-ching explained that weak downstream exports, upcoming summer electricity rates, and falling international wire prices make any significant local price hikes unviable.

CSC Sales Director Chen Po-han noted that high raw material expenses drove recent steel price increases. He said that potential post-conflict rebuilding and mining disruptions in China could raise costs further. However, CSC promised to consider the industry's feedback to protect local export competitiveness when finalizing the upcoming pricing.
