Tung Mung Development Co., Ltd., a cold-rolled stainless steel manufacturer in Taiwan, commenced construction on its first-phase 10MW/20MWh smart energy storage project at its Syuejia plant in Tainan, scheduled for commercial operation by the first quarter of 2027.

Turnkey contractor iBASE ENERGY leads a consortium integrating multiple specialized companies to deliver the behind-the-meter (BTM) installation. The system satisfies major power consumer regulations, performs peak shaving, stabilizes voltage fluctuations for precision steel rolling lines, and provides emergency backup power.

Tung Mung expects the first-phase energy storage system to generate annual electricity savings of approximately 20%, translating to roughly NT$40 million from a total annual electricity expense of NT$250 million. Furthermore, potential overall savings could exceed 35% upon future second-phase expansions involving a total of 60MWh for storage and 7MW for solar power.

The facility uses advanced cabinet solutions equipped with CATL cells, featuring decentralized safety architectures, modular expandability, and full depth of discharge.

iBase chairman Liao Liang-Bin said that the milestone delivery provides comprehensive lifecycle services addressing growing power stability demands across heavy industries.
