Taiwan’s screw exports struggle amid currency pressure and global competition

30 Oct 2025 16:09 reported by Ranny Fang

Taiwan’s screw export industry is facing growing challenges despite stable shipment performance in 2025. Export volumes in the first three quarters dipped only slightly compared to last year, yet producers are under strain due to external pressures.

Analysts point out that exchange rate fluctuations and intensified competition from China and Southeast Asia have weakened the industry’s competitiveness. The sharp appreciation of the New Taiwan dollar earlier this year further squeezed exporters’ profit margins.

Industry experts urge the government to maintain currency stability and address structural issues such as labor shortages and rising energy costs to help sustain Taiwan’s crucial screw manufacturing sector.
