Taiwan’s machine tool exports to US predicted to rise by 6-8%

The Taiwan Machine Tool and Accessory Builder's Association (TMBA) expects a 6% to 8% growth in the US market this year following a recent tariff agreement. Under the deal, a 15% reciprocal tariff will apply without additional stacking. TMBA Chairman Shen-Teng Chen said that this clarity encourages buyers to invest in new equipment and technology.

In addition to the US, the industry expects growth in Europe due to aerospace and semiconductor demand, with investments in Southeast Asia also offering opportunities for expansion.

Previously, high taxes limited Taiwanese competitiveness in America. Now, stable trade terms allow firms to redirect profits into research and transformation. The association advises manufacturers to establish direct distribution channels in the US to better capture customer needs and provide complete service solutions.
