Taiwan’s Feng Hsin launches new 2-inch channel steel to compete with imports

After the closure of Kao Yung Steel in February, a market gap emerged for small-section steels in Taiwan, particularly the two-inch channel steel, which has an annual demand of 500 to 600 tons. Shortages of this product had temporarily attracted imports from China and Japan.

To counter foreign dominance, domestic long steel producer Feng Hsin Steel has successfully developed and launched its own two-inch channel steel into the market.

Despite a large quantity of Chinese and Japanese products soon entering the market, distributors are optimistic. They point out that superior quality and domestic advantages, like immediate delivery without the need for stockpiling, are key factors that give local products a competitive advantage over imported ones.
