Taiwan’s Chung Hung Steel hikes prices for May domestic sales and June exports

16 Apr 2026 15:42 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Chung Hung Steel Corporation (CHSC), a Taiwan-based carbon steel producer under China Steel Corporation (CSC), announced its new price list today (April 16), increasing domestic rates for May by NT$1,200 to 1,500 per ton. Hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils each rise NT$1,200 per ton, and galvanized steel increases by NT$1,500 per ton. Export prices for June will vary based on specific regional market conditions and product types.

This decision reflects rising energy and transportation costs linked to Middle East tensions, coupled with raw material prices for coal and iron ore. Despite these pressures, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) projects global demand growth through 2026.

By adjusting prices, Chung Hung Steel aims to reflect current market realities and encourage downstream restocking as global steel supply remains tight.
