Taiwanese buyers remain active in purchasing cold-rolled steel from China due to the unconfirmed status of a requested anti-dumping (AD) probe. China Steel Corporation (CSC) submitted the investigation petition over three months ago, but the case remains under review without official updates.

This regulatory delay prompted local importers to secure low-priced inventories before formal government review begins. Import volumes reached around 40,000 tons in June as buyers tried to beat potential tariff deadlines.

Meanwhile, falling steel prices in China have forced Chinese mills to defend their margins, leading to firmer quotes. However, exporters still allow discounts for large orders to maintain sales volumes. Import offers continue to present attractive arbitrage opportunities compared to Taiwan's domestic market rates.
