Taiwan holds public hearing on electrical steel AD case today

A public hearing took place today regarding anti-dumping (AD) complaints filed by China Steel Corporation (CSC) against non-oriented electrical steel products from China and South Korea.

In 2025, Taiwan imported 61,000 tons of electrical steel, of which about 13,600 tons were from China and 17,400 tons were from South Korea. CSC targets these specific imports because they compete directly with domestic production.

Although Japan remains the top source with 23,000 tons, those products are grain-oriented types not manufactured in Taiwan. Because no local industry suffers damage from those specific Japanese goods, they are excluded from the legal action. However, Chinese and South Korean non-oriented steel directly competes with CSC's output.

Besides, CSC is also preparing a separate case against Chinese cold-rolled steel.
