POSCO Steeleon, a subsidiary of South Korea's POSCO Group specializing in galvanized and color-coated steel sheets, announced the completion and full operation of its solar power generation facilities at its main production sites in POSCO. The facilities will replace approximately 6% to 6.5% of annual electricity consumption with renewable energy, accelerating the transition to low-carbon operations.

The company stated that the solar system will provide electricity to its galvanized and color-coated steel sheet plant, which has an annual production capacity of approximately 300,000 tons.

Under agreements, the electricity generated by approximately 20,000 square meters of solar panels will be used for production operations. The facilities utilize POSCO's proprietary PosMAC 3.0 high-corrosion-resistant steel to ensure long-term stable operation in coastal environments.

POSCO Steeleon noted that this investment is a key component of the group's 2050 carbon neutrality target and ESG strategy.

As South Korea promotes the K-Steel Act, the POSCO Group continues to expand its use of renewable energy to strengthen the competitiveness of its steel industry and support its carbon reduction transition.
