Saudi Arabia is accelerating construction of the Riyadh monorail project to improve transportation in the capital. Meanwhile, the project will boost demand for structural steel and construction materials.

According to official sources, Egis has been appointed as the project's on-site supervision consultant. The 3.6-kilometer monorail line will operate as a one-way loop, equipped with six two-carriage trains. Trial operations are expected to begin in early 2027.

Industry experts believe that the monorail project will significantly increase demand for structural steel and steel components, and will also boost demand for steel profiles and other materials used in civil engineering and landscaping projects.
