Rising ferromolybdenum costs boost 316L prices up in Taiwan and China

3 Mar 2026 16:33 reported by Ellen Huang

A A A
Driven by surging ferromolybdenum costs, stainless steel mills in Taiwan and China have significantly raised 316L prices for March.

In Taiwan, major mills including Tang Eng, Yieh United Steel Corp. (Yusco), and Walsin Lihwa increased 316L alloy surcharges by NT$2,000 to 4,000 per ton, the fourth consecutive month of hikes due to high raw material costs.

Also, China’s 316 prices surged further, with both cold-rolled coil (CRC) and hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices rising, reflecting a price increase in ferromolybdenum over the last three months.

Although costs remain high, actual market transactions remain sluggish as post-holiday demand recovers more slowly than expected.
