Primetals installs eco-friendly scrap cutter at Finnish recycler Konepeikko

2 Dec 2025 15:24 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Finnish recycling services provider Konepeikko Oy has commissioned a new scrap torch-cutting machine supplied by Primetals Technologies at its Imatra facility.

The system improves safety and efficiency by replacing manual hand-cutting. Operators control the machine remotely, supported by a video monitoring system. Besides, the technology addresses environmental concerns. A movable cabin and highly efficient dedusting system have significantly reduced both noise and dust emissions, ensuring compliance with strict Finnish regulations.

With a capacity of 50,000 tons per year, the machine can handle various materials up to 1,500 millimeters thick, including hard, high-alloy, which allows Konepeikko to meet the growing demand for scrap in green steel production.
