The Financial Times and Statista have named Outokumpu as one of Europe’s Climate Leaders for the third time.

In the 2026 edition, which features 600 European companies demonstrating strong climate action and transparent emissions reporting, Outokumpu took 13th place out of 43 businesses in the chemicals and materials sector, and 255th overall.

The evaluation metrics focused on reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity from 2019 to 2024, Scope 3 disclosures, and climate-related commitments such as Science Based Targets and CDP scores.

Outokumpu has lowered emissions by 33% against its 2016 baseline. Heidi Peltonen, Vice President of Sustainability at Outokumpu, said that the company helps customers cut emissions by over 12 million tons annually, offering stainless steel with a carbon footprint up to 75% below the global average.
