Novelis aluminum plant fire disrupts Ford F-Series pickup production

Novelis has not fully resumed operations following a fire that occurred over four months ago. Following the initial incident, the plant’s owner, Novelis, had aimed to restore full production capacity by late December. However, a second fire in November further delayed the recovery process.

The facility reportedly supplies aluminum to 36% of US auto assembly plants. Ford previously projected a loss of up to 100,000 pickup units in 2025 due to the supply disruption, which initially led the company to suspend production of its slower-selling electric variant.

The automaker has since opted to discontinue F-150 Lightning production entirely in 2026, while ramping up output of its gasoline-powered and Super Duty pickup models.
