Nippon Steel increases domestic prices for stainless steel sections and steel sheets

Beginning with May shipments, Nippon Steel will increase sales prices for stainless steel sections by approximately 15%, which represents the first price adjustment for these products in four years.

Besides, the company is raising prices for domestic steel sheets by 10,000 yen per ton, or about 10%, across all hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coated steel products.

These increases reflect surging costs for nickel, chromium, and other raw materials, worsened by the weak yen. Rising expenses for labor, logistics, electricity, and maintenance also contributed to the decision.

Nippon Steel indicated that these mounting financial pressures have exceeded what internal productivity gains can absorb, making the pass-through necessary to maintain stable operations and equipment.
