According to a preliminary ruling for an AD investigation, the Mexican Ministry of Economy (SE) modified the anti-dumping (AD) duty on imports of micro-welding wire originating in China.

The SE accepted the petition from domestic producers, including Electrodos Infra, Lincoln Electric, and Plásticos y Alambres, arguing that price discrimination requires dynamic pricing, time passage shows a change in the circumstances, and the market conditions when the duty was imposed have changed, so the existing measure needs to be adjusted.

Therefore, the SE modified the 18.97% ad valorem duty on the subject products from China to a specific AD duty of US$1.02/kg.

The products involved are solid carbon steel wire alloyed with manganese and silicon, coated with copper or not, in diameters from 0.6 to 1.6 mm, classified under HS codes 7229.20.01, 7229.90.99, and 8311.90.01.

The investigation period covers August 2023 to July 2024.
