LME tin price hits new high, pushing up galvanized screw costs

3 Oct 2025 11:37 reported by Joy Liu

The tin price on the London Metal Exchange (LME) has reached a new high, reaching US$36,910/ton early today (October 3) and setting a new record since May 2025. This surge increases operating expenses for several metal industries in Taiwan.

LME tin prices have soared, rising by more than 5% this week and over 7% in the past three months, outperforming copper prices.

Tin powder and zinc powder are important components for mechanical galvanized screws; therefore, the rising tin price directly increases processing costs. The higher prices add significant pressure to screw manufacturers already dealing with weak order volumes.
