Turkish integrated steel producer Kardemir has contracted Primetals Technologies to modernize its meltshop automation.

The project introduces a unified Level 2 process optimization system for three 120-ton LD converters, four single ladle furnaces, and a vacuum degasser. This integrated digital architecture replaces fragmented systems, creating a standardized environment for metallurgical and operational data.

By implementing this "steelmaking backbone," Kardemir aims to improve yield, reduce energy consumption in secondary metallurgy, and minimize BOF reblows.

The upgrade provides operators with consistent procedures and enhanced transparency across production units. This initiative represents a key step in Kardemir’s digital transformation strategy, focusing on smarter, more sustainable, and more efficient production processes through advanced automation.
