French Vallourec secures OCTG supply contract for Shell's Orca project

French seamless steel pipe manufacturer Vallourec has recently secured a significant contract to supply oil country tubular goods (OCTG) and related services for Shell's Orca project in Brazil, with an estimated supply volume of 12,000 to 15,000 tons of steel pipes.

The project is scheduled to commence drilling operations in April 2027. As operators gradually advance oil field development in resource-rich offshore basins, deepwater drilling activities are becoming increasingly active, and Vallourec is expected to benefit continuously from this trend.

This contract covers all OCTG, including carbon steel and stainless steel seamless steel pipes with diameters ranging from 4.5 to 18 inches, as well as related accessories.

Shell's Orca project is part of the offshore capacity expansion plan in Brazil's Santos Basin, which is expected to support the growth of crude oil exports from the region.
