EU approves Metinvest's acquisition of Romanian steel pipe plant AMTP Iasi

2 Dec 2025 15:26 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The European Commission has cleared the acquisition of full control over ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iasi S.A. (AMTP Iasi) of Romania by the Dutch company Metinvest B.V.

This transaction, which primarily concerns small welded carbon steel pipes, was reviewed under a simplified merger procedure. The Commission determined that the deal would not bring competition concerns due to the limited combined presence of the companies in the relevant markets.

AMTP Iasi is a minor producer of welded pipes and hollow sections. The acquisition allows Metinvest, an experienced pipe producer, to integrate the Romanian asset into its production chain, enabling the manufacture of finished tubular goods and potentially paving the way for broader expansion in Romania.
