Corinth Pipeworks & ArcelorMittal integrate low-carbon steel for energy pipes

21 Apr 2026 16:15 reported by Joy Liu

Corinth Pipeworks and ArcelorMittal are integrating XCarb® recycled and renewably produced steel into energy pipe production. Unveiled at the Tube trade fair in Düsseldorf, this collaboration provides low-emission infrastructure solutions for conventional energy and hydrogen transport projects.

The XCarb® material is produced via electric arc furnaces, using a minimum of 75% scrap and 100% renewable electricity. This process cuts CO2 emissions by approximately 65% compared to blast furnace manufacturing.

By incorporating these materials, the companies assist customers in reducing Scope 3 emissions and advancing circular economy goals. This partnership combines sustainable innovation with the reliable supply required by the energy sector to meet decarbonization targets.
