China's stainless steel market shows strength, faces upward pressure

23 Jul 2025 16:02 reported by Joy Liu

China's stainless steel market went stronger again, with futures contracts trending upward and spot prices following suit. The main futures contract had gains early this week, reflecting improved market sentiment. Similarly, spot prices for 304 cold-rolled coils increased across major markets such as Foshan and Wuxi. 201 products also experienced notable price increases, as did 430 cold-rolled coils.

However, after these gains, spot transactions became sluggish, limiting further increases. Market participants said that while recent policy support and mill price adjustments have boosted confidence, weak demand and an oversupply situation remain. It is expected that the market will face a volatile short-term outlook.
