According to statistics from the Stainless Steel Branch of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), China’s crude stainless steel output reached 3.66 million tons in August, rising by 0.88% from July.

Production included 1.898 million tons of Cr-Ni series, 1.02 million tons of Cr-Mn series, 690,600 metric tons of Cr series, and 49,730 tons of duplex stainless steel.

In August, China’s stainless steel imports rose by 21.1% to 141,000 tons, bringing January to August imports to 1.012 million tons. Exports increased by 13.87% monthly to 445,700 tons, with an eight-month total of nearly 2.9 million tons. Net exports totaled 304,800 tons for the month.

In terms of apparent consumption, the figure dropped by 0.04% month on month in August to 3.006 million tons.
