Canyon Resources, an Australia-based minerals miner, is transitioning its Minim Martap bauxite project into the active mining phase this month. The company scheduled the commissioning of its surface miner for February, representing a major step toward production.

Road upgrades remain on track for ore haulage in the second quarter, while delays in locomotive fleet deliveries from China pushed the first bauxite trial shipment to the third quarter. Full-scale shipments are expected to start in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Canyon is finalizing port dredging tenders and increasing its investment in the national rail operator to roughly 35% from 9.1%.

Besides, a feasibility study for a proposed local alumina refinery stays on schedule for completion in the third quarter, supporting the company's integrated value chain strategy.
