Canada Nickel & RWEST partner for eco-friendly steel products

Canada Nickel Company Inc. formed a strategic commercial partnership with global energy and carbon trader RWE Supply & Trading GmbH (RWEST) to commercialize low-carbon intermediate stainless and alloy steel.

Executed via a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on June 1, 2026, the agreement utilizes materials from the Crawford Nickel Project through Canada Nickel’s wholly-owned downstream subsidiary, Net Zero Metals.

The collaboration provides Canada Nickel access to RWEST's American and European customer networks, trading capabilities, and European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) expertise. This positioning leverages Ontario's renewable energy infrastructure to navigate escalating European carbon compliance expenses.

The entities plan to identify target customers, develop sales strategies for semi-finished steel, alloys, and stainless products, and secure export credit agency financing, aiming to finalize a definitive contract later this year.
