According to the Argentine Steel Chamber (CAA), crude steel production in Argentina grew 14% year-on-year in May, reaching 399,400 tons. This increase was driven by the energy demand from Vaca Muerta and the agricultural sector, which act as key drivers of the growth.

Despite this growth, industrial activity presents a mixed picture. Sectors such as construction, the automotive industry, and agricultural machinery show declines and stagnant figures.

The local industry warns that its competitiveness is threatened by the influx of subsidized Asian imports. This external pressure complicates the full recovery of the national steel sector.
