Brazilian CSN Mineração reduces 2026 iron ore production outlook and raises cash costs due to rising freight expenses

1 Oct 2026 16:35 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Brazilian iron ore producer CSN Mineração lowered its 2026 forecast for production volume and third-party ore purchases from the previous range of 45.0 to 47.0 million tons to a new range of 39.0 to 41.0 million tons.

The adjustment responds to higher freight expenses driven by rising costs. Consequently, the company temporarily curtailed low-grade ore operations at the Pires complex dry processing plant in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, noting the action is reversible if market margins improve.

Besides, the estimated cash costs for 2026 have risen from a range of US$22.0 to US$23.5 per ton to a range of US$25.0 to US$26.00 per ton.
