Bekaert, a Belgian steel wire producer, executed a preliminary agreement with Sardinian industrial engineering firm Nuova Icom to transfer its Macchiareddu facility in Sardinia, Italy, ensuring workforce reemployment and local industrial continuity.

Decreased tire cord production viability was caused by structural changes within the tire sector, prompting Bekaert to proactively pursue sustainable solutions that preserve regional employment.

Transaction closure is projected for October 2026, pending consultation finalization and standard closing conditions.
