Baker Hughes: US rig counts decrease, Canada’s rise w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on January 9, 2025, the US rig count fell by two to 544 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by one to 124 units, and that for oil decreased by three to 409 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 40 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by 96 to 197 units from the previous week, including 128 oil rigs (up by 79 week on week) and 69 gas rigs (up by 17 week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by 19 units compared to the same period a year ago.
