Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts hike w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on January 30, 2026, the US rig count rose by two to 546 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas increased by three to 125 units, and that for oil kept flat at 411 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 36 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by one to 232 units from the previous week, including 156 oil rigs (down by two week on week) and 76 gas rigs (up by three week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by 26 units compared to the same period a year ago.
