Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts grow w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on September 5, 2025, the US rig count rose by one to 537 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by one to 118 units, and that for oil went up by two to 414 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 45 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by six to 181 units from the previous week, including 123 oil rigs (up by three week on week) and 58 gas rigs (up by three week on week). Canada’s rig number dropped by 39 units compared to the same period a year ago.
