The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission opened an anti-dumping (AD) investigation into zinc-coated (galvanized) steel imports from South Korea and Vietnam. Local steelmaker BlueScope Steel Limited requested the probe, claiming these products entered Australia below normal value and caused material injury to the domestic industry.

The investigation examines the period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, while the injury examination period began from January 1, 2022.

The inquiry targets flat-rolled iron or steel products in coils or sheets, with thicknesses from 0.3 mm to 3.5 mm, of any width. These goods have zinc coatings comprising equal to or greater than 50% of the total coating composition, excluding painted, pre-painted, electro-galvanized, corrugated, or coated with aluminum-zinc alloys where aluminum is equal to or greater than 50% of the composition.

The products involved are under customs codes 7210.49.00.55, 7210.49.00.56, 7210.49.00.57, 7210.49.00.58, 7212.30.00.61, 7225.92.00.38, and 7226.99.00.71.
The authority plans to release the Statement of Essential Facts (SEF) by September 9, 2026, with the final recommendation due by October 26, 2026.
