Australia launches AD probe into South Korea and Vietnamese galvanized steel

Australia has opened an anti-dumping (AD) investigation regarding zinc coated (galvanized) steel imports from South Korea and Vietnam. The main producers involved include South Korea’s Dongkuk Steel and POSCO, as well as Vietnam’s Hoa Sen Group and Nam Kim Steel.

The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission initiated this action after BlueScope Steel Limited filed an application.

The statement of essential facts (SEF) is expected to be released by August 18. By October 2, a formal recommendation will go to the Minister for Industry and Innovation and the Minister for Science to determine if AD duties are necessary.

The subject products are flat rolled iron or steel products, whether or not alloyed, with a thickness of 0.3 mm up to and including 3.5 mm, of any width, in coil or sheet form, plated or coated with zinc (≥50% of the coating composition), excluding painted, pre-painted, electro-galvanized, corrugated, or aluminum-zinc coated products where aluminum accounts for ≥50% of the coating.
