The ArcelorMittal Poland steelworks in Dabrowa Gornicza successfully accepted its heaviest iron ore train ever on the European gauge. Coming from the port of Swinoujscie, the transport safely delivered more than 3,000 tons of raw material across 49 shorter wagons. This specific configuration allowed a 40% payload increase compared to typical 2,200 to 2,300-ton shipments without breaking train length limits.

This supply chain optimization reduces travel frequency, cuts expenditures, and lowers environmental impacts for Poland's last two operating blast furnaces.

Encouraged by this success, the steelmaker started testing larger logistics configurations in May. Recent iron ore trains from the Medyka terminal averaged 2,900 tons, and limestone shipments from local stations reached 3,045 tons, cutting down the overall number of incoming trains.
