ArcelorMittal Belgium preparing to restart Liège galvanizing line

16 Mar 2026 15:27 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
ArcelorMittal Belgium is preparing to resume operations at its Galva 5 galvanizing line in Flémalle, Liège, with a scheduled restart in the second quarter of this year. The facility will process hot-rolled steel coils from Ghent, resuming a strategic role within the company's regional production network after years of inactivity.

Following the acquisition of the line in July 2025, the company implemented an extensive renewal program. This work included technical risk analyses, safety training, roofing repairs, and maintenance of roll feeding equipment. Personnel dismantled and repaired the zinc bath while expanding the workforce through new hires. Besides, the site received a digital infrastructure upgrade to support the upcoming production relaunch.
