American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) president and chief executive officer Kevin Dempsey praised Ambassador Greer and administration policies addressing subsidized steel flooding international markets.

The institute welcomed the adoption of the Comprehensive Framework for Joint Action by Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity (GFSEC) members in Milwaukee. The initiative establishes government actions to eliminate market-distorting subsidies, combat trade measure circumvention, and protect producers in market-oriented economies.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) data projects worldwide steel excess production to reach 745 million metric tons by 2028, rising from over 640 million metric tons in 2025.
