Canada imposes provisional duty on heavy plate from 3 countries

According to the preliminary determination of anti-dumping (AD) made by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Canada decided to impose a provisional duty on certain hot-rolled carbon steel heavy plate and high-strength low-alloy steel heavy plate imports from Taiwan, Germany, and Turkey; meanwhile, the dumping investigation on the same products from South Korea and Malaysia was terminated.
The provisional duty rate for Taiwan’s China Steel Corporation (CSC) was set at 9.4%, and that for all other Taiwan’s exporters was 97%. Germany’s AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke was subject to a 4.8% duty rate and all other German exporters received 63.8%. Turkey’s Ereğli Demir ve Çelik Fabrikaları T.A.Ş. (Erdemir) was set at 2.9%, and all other Turkish exporters had 25.8%.
The products involved are under HS codes 7208.51.00.10, 7208.51.00.93, 7208.51.00.94, 7208.51.00.95, 7208.52.00.10, 7208.52.00.93, and 7208.52.00.96.
This AD investigation was initially launched on May 27 based on the complaint filed by Algoma Steel Inc. on April 6.
