NEMO Industries chose Tenova’s ENERGIRON direct reduction (DR) technology for its new direct reduction to electric smelting pig iron project (Ironworks I) in Louisiana, targeting an annual production of 2.5 million tons of hot and cold DRI using a Zero Reformer configuration.

Tenova will initiate front-end engineering design (FEED) ahead of a final investment decision planned for December 2027.

The facility will incorporate the HYTEMP hot DRI transport system, carbon capture integration readiness, and pathways for future hydrogen use.

Tenova HYL President and CEO Stefano Maggiolino said that the agreement proves the technology's vanguard status. NEMO Co-Founder and President Michael DuBose noted that recent market disruptions reinforced the national security need for a secure American pig iron supply chain.
