Taiwan extends AD probe on China’s hot-rolled steel, but importers not to import due to weak demand

16 Apr 2025 14:22 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Taiwan's International Trade Administration announced yesterday (April 15) that due to the large amount of data that cannot be completed within the statutory time limit, the preliminary investigation and determination period for the anti-dumping (AD) and provisional AD duties on imports of certain flat hot-rolled steel products from China, based on petitions filed by China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Dragon Steel Corporation (DSC), will be extended to May 12.

Importers believe that although the extension of the investigation may still allow opportunities to import Chinese hot-rolled steel, considering factors such as the current high inventory, weak demand, and uncertain US tariff policies, most downstream buyers have stated that they will temporarily suspend imports of such products in the near future. In addition, rising Chinese quotations also reduced import willingness.
