HRC price continues to rise slightly in US market

5 Mar 2025 16:53 reported by Alston Tsai

A A A
The price of hot-rolled coil (HRC) for the April delivery has risen slightly in the US market, and some blast furnace steel mills in the Midwest are offering higher prices than the current level.

According to the news, all local mills' March capacity has been full, and most of them have started to collect the April quota. However, most buyers are unwilling to purchase large volumes for inventory and are concerned that this rally will not last long.

Market participants believe that this upward trend is expected to continue into May-June as the US economy may enter a recession and demand slows down and lower-priced imported HRC will arrive in the second quarter. Therefore, prices may be under pressure in the second half of the second quarter.
