ArcelorMittal Tubarão completes revamp of Converter 2

ArcelorMittal Tubarão in Brazil is a key producer of special steel plates in Latin America. SMS group has recently revamped the suspension system and tendons of its Converter 2, one of the three largest in Brazil. This project highlighted their long-standing partnership and commitment to safety and operational efficiency.

Installed by SMS group in 1999, the converter now features an optimized tendon suspension system. To minimize downtime, SMS group developed a solution with detailed engineering and used advanced techniques like cryogenics strand jacks, ensuring safety, quality, as well as speed.
