AISI: US’ raw steel production in week ending Jan 4 drops w-o-w, y-o-y

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ending January 4, 2025, the production of US’ raw steel totaled 1.635 million net tons, decreasing by 1.4% from the same period a week ago and by 1.3% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 73.6%, down by 1.1% week on week and by 0.1% year on year.

As of the week ending January 4, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date production of US’ raw steel has amounted to 1.635 million short tons, sliding by 1.3% compared to the prior-year level. The capacity utilization rate was 73.6%, falling by 0.1% year on year.
