The European Commission said that it has extended anti-dumping (AD) duties on Chinese imports of corrosion-resistant steel in order to prevent manufacturers from slightly modifying their export materials to avoid current tariffs.

The European Union set a tariff of 17.2% to 27.9% on certain corrosion-resistant steel imports from China in February 2018 to resist unfairly low prices.

These AD measures have reduced the import volume of affected products to almost zero. At the same time, the import volume of other corrosion-resistant products has climbed to about 1 million tons.

The expanded tariffs will apply to corrosion-resistant steel products with coating magnesium or silicon-containing alloys, additional surface treatments, or slightly modified elemental compositions.
